The Gathering of Angels Executive Summary
The Gathering of Angels (GOA) was founded in October 1996 in Santa Fe, NM as an economic development tool for New Mexico to stop the out migration of young technology companies which in the mid 90s were leaving New Mexico for other states and the sources of capital available to them outside of the state. GOA expanded to other states and venues outside of New Mexico in 2000 and now holds GOA Angel Forums in Santa Fe, Atlanta, Atlanta North, Hilton Head, Austin, Washington DC and Jacksonville.
The Gathering of Angels is a monthly assembly of accredited investors, often called Angels, who come together at GOA to hear from 4-5 companies seeking seed and early stage capital to grow and expand their entrepreneurial businesses. Since inception in 1996, GOA has helped facilitate 100 + capital fundings with 14 capital fundings in 2003 and 24 capital fundings in 2004. 12 capital fundings have been facilitated in 2005 YTD.
The presenting companies each pay a flat presentation fee to present for 20 min + 2-5 min of Q&A with no % fee of any capital raised. Angels, VCs and Investment Bankers attend GOA complementary and enjoy the hospitality, presentations and assorted wines, soft drinks and a light supper. GOA events are from 5:30-8pm and are held in private clubs, upscale hotels and resort locations. GOA presenting companies have a practice and coaching session from 2-5pm on the day of the GOA event.
