Gathering of Angels Creates Zoom Platform for Business Funding

Austin, TX May XX, 2020 - For 24 years, The Gathering of Angels brought together young, entrepreneurial companies seeking seed and early stage capital with seasoned accredited angel investors. The monthly GOA meetings were held across the country from Washington DC, Charlotte, Atlanta, Hilton Head Island, Jacksonville, Dallas, Houston, Austin, Scottsdale, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. The luncheon and dinner meetings hosted by GOA produced more than 400 capital fundings ranging from $20k to $38.5M.

In March 2020, with the spread of the Covid-19 Pandemic and subsequent countrywide lockdowns, the Gathering of Angels face-to-face meetings pivoted to begin utilizing the Zoom platform to play matchmaker between angel investors and the start-up entrepreneurs seeking capital.

Hello, I’m Tardy Bryant with the Gathering of Angels. We have been in business for the last 20 years helping young companies raise money.

One of the basic tenets of raising seed and early-stage capital is the development of a realistic and defensible valuation. That means what the
company is worth today even though it may be pre-revenue. I use a formula
called discounted cash flow. I use a 40% internal rate of return and a market rate price-earnings ratio. I take the 3rd and 5th year net operating income after tax for year three and year five, multiply that times an industry multiple called a p/e, let’s just say fifteen, that gives me future value which I average and then to bring it back to present value, today’s value, I discount that about 40% internal rate of return.

This video describes the Gathering of Angels. An Atlanta, GA based event that allows companies seeking seed capital to present to a group of qualified investors. We are an Angel Forum, not a club and our Angel Investors write individual checks to our monthly presenting Gathering of Angels companies. Each entrepreneurial company after paying the presentation fee has twenty (20) minutes to present with PowerPoint and five (5) minutes of Questions and Answers. Gatheirng of Angels practice sessions are from 2-5 pm the day of the events and Gatheirng of Angels events are from 5 to 8 pm at a private club or golf country club.
